3 Fun and Easy Ways to Rock Your Summer with Kids

3 Fun and Easy Ways to Rock Your Summer with Kids

In this post, you will learn 3 easy ways you can rock your summer with kids and weave learning into your family's time together. Not only will you grow closer together, you will also come out enjoying new knowledge, too! It's a win-win!

Summer is a time of year that most families look forward to. From the extra sun and longer days to the ability to spend more time with our children; summer is a downright blessing for our family.

And you know what? We always do our very best to make each summer some of the fondest memories for our children and this summer is no exception.

Rather than letting the summer days slip by with little to no planning, we choose to be very intentional about what we do. And as a planning obsessed homeschool mom (yep, that's me!) I enjoy researching and planning fun activities with my husband that we know our children will enjoy.

Today I am excited to share with you 3 ways you can rock your summer and weave learning into your family's time together. Not only will you grow closer together, you will also come out enjoying new knowledge, too! It's a win-win!

3 Easy Ways to Rock Your Summer with Kids

1. Books, Books, and More Books

As a family completely obsessed with the art of storytelling, we cannot get enough books. While we love to read aloud, we also use audiobooks as well.

A sample book-ish themed fun for us this summer will consist of a book that we'll read aloud as a family, movie adaptation of the book, a journey inspired by the book, and a meal inspired from the book. Although we do things like this all year long in our homeschool, the children love this and love that they can enjoy a lot more of it during the summer.

2. Summer Family Olympics

This is a tradition that has been going strong for 15 years and 2018 is our biggest line-up yet! This summer's event will consist of 15 events over 3 days and the grand-prize winner will get a $50 Amazon gift card! This is a perfect way to include the entire family (yes, even the littles). You can learn more about some of the events that we compete in my screen-free summer activities post here.

3. Scavenger Hunts

We cannot get enough of scavenger hunts. As a matter of fact our family is completely obsessed with them. We love how the scavenger hunts increase critical thinking skills, help us work together as a team, and give the children a wonderful feeling of satisfaction once the hunt is over.

Our family is excited for another summer together and are thankful that we can be intentional about what we do together. I hope that this list helps inspire your family to enjoy the gift of summer together and continue to cultivate the strongest bond possible.
