Are You OK With Where You Are?

OK-Where-You-Are-Book-Proof-promo Are you OK with where you are?

I have asked myself this question many times. I confess more times than not, my answer is "No." I understand what it feels like to have dreams fail and disappointments rise up. I have lived with a spirit of discontentment and longed for what God was doing in my sister’s life. Oh yes, I have.

One year ago, I was definitely not OK with where I was. I was working diligently on a project with great expectation. God opened a door, I prayed about it, and walked through. Unfortunately, the door quickly closed and my dream died in the form of a short email. It hurt like crazy. I danced with disappointment and had a choice to make: What would I do next?

In that moment, God invited me to take a journey with Him and begin writing from this broken place. The end result is a book called Being OK With Where You Are: (Here is an excerpt)

"Have you been making mud pies lately, too? Are you fooling around with all the wrong things to try and make it all better? For me, those wrong things look more like shopping or a bag of M&M’s, preferably at the same time. Still, I sit in the slum willingly, crafting my own perfect mud pie, and watch the cruise ship of infinite joy go by. I can’t imagine I have a ticket to ride. But I do. " Chapter 10, "Worship Anyway "

That’s me, a mud pie making, trying to make it all better with M&M’s kind of girl. God was whispering to my heart if I truly wanted to be OK with where I was, I would need to trust Him with the process.

Confession time: I hate process.

But, I love God and believe with all my heart He knows what’s best for me. So, with a small mustard seed of faith, I said yes to the process and He met me in the middle of it. He led me through:

  • Admitting it
  • Removing the Veil of Fine
  • Standing on the Promises
  • Living Thankful
  • And much, much, more.

These are simple truths from an extraordinary God who is all grace with His daughter. I’m letting Him speak them to my heart over and over again. These words have helped move me further along in the process than I’ve ever been before. I think God knows my time in this place has value and He is making sure I’m ready before I move on completely. He is the most patient teacher.

I’d love to share the journey with you, too. If you find yourself in a place of not being OK with where you are, will you kindly leave a comment below? I promise to pray for you, listen, and offer a bit of truth from what I am learning. I might even pass the bag of M&M’s your way if you need a bit of encouragement. Today, I’m giving away 3 PDF copies of my book for The Better Mom readers. If you would like to pick up a copy of Being OK With Where You Are, you can find it at Amazon.
