Hi, friend!

When you want to guide your child in today’s culture…

When you want to guide your child in today’s culture…

In a blink my children are teenagers and young adults and I’m reminded every single day of how quickly the years have gone by. I don’t say this to scare you but rather to encourage you that today does matter. Raising children who love Jesus isn’t about a magic formula or a set of exact to-dos. I look back and I know it wasn’t because we had perfect family devotions every single night or one singular lesson that we taught them from the Bible changed their life forever. But we kept teaching, and we kept modeling, and we kept sharing. And what I’m sure of now more than ever is that discipleship happens in the everyday normal conversations, doing life amongst others who love the Lord, a real understanding of what it looks like to follow Jesus through every season and consistently pointing them to resources to help them grow in character and faith.

In our culture today our children need a compass. As mothers, we have the unique ability and influence to guide them along the way. In our home we’ve leaned heavily on resources throughout the years to support what we’ve been teaching and sharing all along. Of course, we’ve used numerous Bibles and devotionals over the years, as well as video and audiobooks but one resource we weren’t aware of was a Christian children’s magazine. My children have always loved magazines, so I am thrilled to find the Focus on the Family magazines. This magazine collection is solid and so relevant for Christian teens and children of all ages. If you aren’t familiar with Focus on the Family, I love their commitment to the family. Just read this statement from FOTF below:

Ultimately, we believe the purpose of life is to know and glorify God through an authentic relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. This purpose is lived out first within our own families then extended, in love, to an increasingly broken world that desperately needs Him. Through our radio broadcasts, websites, simulcasts, conferences, interactive forums, magazines, books, counseling and much more, Focus on the Family equips parents, children and spouses to thrive in an ever-changing, ever-more-complicated world.

With that mission in mind, Focus on the Family has these incredible resources that I’m excited to share with you below:
