Good News: You Don't Have to Have it All Together

Good News: You Don't Have to Have it All Together

Has January met you already feeling worn out instead of resolute? The good news is, you don't have to have it all together and you absolutely can be filled with peace.

Phew! We made it, friend!

Christmas has come and gone and we survived the chaos and crazy. We've eaten way too much, and hopefully made some good memories along the way.

The holidays have a way of causing us to pause, reflect, and ponder. We treasure our kids up in our hearts and put ourselves in Mary's place and ask God to watch over them.

Sometimes, however, the holidays do something else to us.

Rather than starting the New Year feeling joyful and refreshed, we trudge around the corner of the so-called new beginning feeling weighed down, disappointed, and disillusioned. The images that flash across these screens of everyone else's picture-perfect celebrations, more-meaningful-than-ours traditions, and more-grateful-than-ours kids pull us away from the life-giving source of Life to the life-stealing comparisons and expectations of all we are "supposed" to be.

Well, I have good news for you today, sister.

You do not have to have it all together - none of us do!

Sure, you know this and you've heard it before but today I want you to believe it.

Rather than shrink under the weight of all you're failing to do, or all you aren't yet, or all your family isn't, release it back to the hands of the One who gave you those kids, that house, that job, that man, that personality.

If January 1 found you feeling worn out rather than resolute, come to Him. He has already implored us when we are weary, burdened, heavy-leaden to come to Him. He will give us rest.

Yes, rest. You may not sleep through the night, but your soul can be at peace.

Come to Him, dear sister. Look to Him for confirmation of your strengths. Look to His word and make changes in your life, routine, attitudes not based on the latest top 5 ways to maximize your day, or top ten habits of super successful all organic, make it all from scratch, never make a mistake moms. Rather let His Spirit guide you, nudge you, lead you.

Perhaps this year drop the resolutions and opt instead for redemption. Take five minutes today and sit with Him. Pour out your weariness, your frustration, your apathy and let Him guide you with the tenderness and kindness that only He can.

Good news, Mom: you don't have to have it all together because you know the One who holds it all together.
