May is National Strawberry Month! And everywhere we turn, these bright red beauties are calling to us – from roadside stands to farmers markets to local grocery stores. Even better is taking a family trip to a U-Pick farm. (Nothing compares to the taste of fresh-picked, sun-ripened strawberries!)
Plus, there are so many other benefits to handpicking fresh berries. It’s a fun family activity that enables us to teach our children about where real food comes from, it generally costs less to pick strawberries yourself, and since they’re fresher, they contain a higher level of nutrients.
Of course, the best part of picking a bushel of fresh berries is there’s so many delicious ways to use enjoy them! That’s why we’re not only sharing a few sweet-n-savory savory strawberry recipes in this week’s free whole food meal plan, but we’ve also rounded up a few of our favorite gluten-free, grain-free strawberry treats below. Be sure to pin these “berry-licious” treats so you can enjoy them over and over again throughout the season!
