Thoughts for Mothers in a Hurry & Better Mom Monday's Link-up!

Consider with me for a moment.... How fast do you expect yourself to move throughout your days?  How high the expectation for others, such as children or a spouse, to move and get. that. done. already!?

What's the speed of your eating, dressing, driving, getting up, going to bed?  Working, cooking, cleaning, communicating?

If any of these questions makes you feel squirmy, rest assured there are probably plenty of guilty parties here -- me included!

We are women on the move, mothers on a mission....and we go way too fast sometimes.

mothers in a hurry

The month of September jolts me from calmer summer days into the busyness and rush of fall activities.  Various commitments have us in the van more often going here and there, and as a family, there's simply more on our plate.

No matter how I've organized for back-to-school days, this year it's dawning on me afresh how my attitude will determine how our days flow.

Yes, I need to make sure the kids' backpacks are ready.

Of course I should remind my daughter to gather field hockey gear the night before.

It makes sense to be on time looking presentable for an activity.

BUT...if I have my freezer full of nutritious meals and pack lunches to shame Martha Stewart, yet crazy yell at my kids for being so slow to get out the door...who benefits?

What memory do I want etched on my children's hearts -- of me running, going, moving myself and them much faster than necessary -- or one of a better, calmer Mom-attitude even if all isn't exactly right?

I'm learning more and more I simply cannot do this on my own.

It DOES take supernatural strength not to freak when children are ultra-pokey, have lost the exact item needed for today's class, or can't seem to get themselves organized no matter how much I help!

Thankfully, there is Someone stronger than me -- this mother in a hurry at times - who promises to care and lead the way (link to Isaiah 40:11, a gem for Mamas).

He who is gentle, patient with me, will also equip me to do the same for my children.  I am not alone.

Neither are you....
