Focus On The Good

Comment

focusI have a problem. I struggle to focus on the good. I see the good in my life and I appreciate it, but I often catch myself focusing on the bad, the negative, the overwhelming.

When the bad catches my eye, it seems even easier to notice all of the bad. All of a sudden I am drowning in a sea of negativity, burdened by the circumstances that are happening in my life. This is when doubt overshadows my faith and my joy gets pushed out of my heart.

When I focus on the bad, my marriage suffers too.

When I focus on the bad in my life, a huge part of my life is my husband, and well, I may throw a complaint in there about him among the rest. This is disheartening for my husband and my words are not affirming. A chasm forms between my heart and his, hindering our intimacy, pushing us further beneath the crashing waves of life.

The key to living life with joy, confidence, faith, and hope is to focus on the good...well more specifically, focus on God!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” - Hebrews 12:1-3

Focus on the good. I need to focus my eyes on Jesus. Then I will experience extraordinary, then I will walk above the waves, unwavering, without fear or worry.

For the sake of my heart and my husband’s heart I need to be intentional about focusing on the goodness of the Lord!

What are some good things you can focus on today?
