Hi, friend!

Hi friend! I am so glad you have stopped by the site. We have such a wonderful community of moms here and we would LOVE for you to join us as we share life and learn together!

Being The Proverbs 31 Woman

She's out there. Somewhere. I know she exists.  I know in our vast galaxy The Proverbs 31 Woman thrives in her little corner of the world. And I want to be her.

I want the older women in my church and community to be her so I'll have someone to turn to.  Someone to reach out to.  Someone to tell me when I'm overwhelmed and frustrated that I'm not super mom.

And that God never intended me to be.

Someone who will cradle my tear-stained cheeks in her aged, but loving hands, to look into my eyes, and whisper words of life.  Someone older who's been there where I am now.   Someone to show me by example and to lead me along the way.

But she's not there, and I feel defeated.  I cry out to the Lord and ask for that Titus 2 woman in my life.  And He answers, but not how I expected.  I know He has promised to never leave us or forsake us, and He speaks to my heart...

"I know you don't have that.  You be that to someone else."

His response catches me off-guard.  It's not what I wanted to hear.  But I listen.  I ponder And I obey.

And so even though I'm barely 40, I can be an "older woman" to a younger one.  I can reach out to those in need even when I myself am in need.

We are all at a different place on His path to righteousness and it is good for us to slow down to help those who are a bit behind us.  Jesus said in Matthew 20:28:

"... the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

If the Son of God came to serve, should we do any less?  The Proverbs 31 woman is praised that she:

"...opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy."  Proverbs 31:20

We are filled by God, through His word, through time in prayer, through just sitting at His feet and listening.  We are filled by His people who offer an encouraging word, lend a hand or a listening ear.

Being a Proverbs 31 woman is a worthy goal to strive for.  She has given her life to the Lord and delights in being used by Him.  She is a rare treasure, a jewel.  She is excellent, precious, virtuous.  She is not Super Mom, and has no desire to be.  She is a child of God, and her worth is found in Him.

"An excellent wife who can find?  She is far more precious than jewels.

Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Proverbs 31:10, 29-30
