Teaching Children to Understand the Resurrection

Resurrection iWitness is a unique approach to teaching kids and teenagers (and adults *ahem) all about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  First of all I must say this book is exquisite.  It is beautifully written and abundantly interactive.  It definitely is one of a kind.  My 9 year old son and 7 year old daughter read in wonder (and I might of too :)), as they opened flaps and pulled out hidden papers.

Here is a video that helps to give you an idea of the wonder this book holds.

B&H Publishing writes, “Comparable in style to the best-selling Ologies children’s fantasy book series, Resurrection iWitness brings truth to the highly illustrated genre. This book gives evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ by using the easy-to-understand Minimal Facts argument. That means it relies only on the historical facts that all biblical scholars (including atheistic, Jewish, and liberal) accept and shows how only the biblical story of the resurrection can account for all these agreed-upon facts.

Across 32 intensively designed pages (16 spreads acting as individual chapters) — each containing information that is physically nested and must be actively opened to discover — the reader investigates the story of Christ and weighs the evidence to determine its historical accuracy.”

And here is a little information about the author Doug Powell.  Doug holds a Masters in Apologetics from Biola University. He is the author of the Holman QuickSource Guide to Christian Apologetics, a contributor to The Apologetics Study Bible, The Apologetics Study Bible for Students, and Modern Reformation magazine. In addition to writing, Doug is a recording artist with nine records to his credit, a speaker on apologetics topics, author of the iPad app Resurrection iWitness, and is the Art Director for Apologia. He has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, CNN, NPR, World Cafe, Prime Time America, The White Horse Inn, and Sound Rezn.

This book is truly a treasure for children, teens, and adults and a perfect book for this time of year as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus!  Apologia would like to give one of The Better Mom readers this lovely book, Resurrection iWitness!  Woot!  So have fun entering below and I hope you win!

I have been trying to find creative ways to teach my 4y/o about God bc I know that simply going to sunday school isnt going to cut it (when he is around other kids thats where all of his attention & energy goes). My husband & I have chosen not to celebrate Easter or Christmas in the traditional sense. We do not want our kids to grow up having the wrong idea about these 2 days which are supposed to be both a celebration & recognition of our Lord & Savior. My son will be starting school this fall & it is very difficult to teach him things that contradict what others say. (I.E. billboards/children shows/commercial/radio/mags/ads/etc all portraying Santa & the “EASTER bunny”) I am not going to act like they do not exist but I do have much difficulty explaining why they do. My son is very visual (so is my daughter but shes only 1!) so he learns alot from books & shows & if I had a book like this to teach him what Jesus did for us & why he did it & why we celebrate him rather than a bunny than it would make it so much easier & he as well as I would be very thankful :)
