Ways to Stay Healthy with Essential Oils

Do you want to try essential oils but don't know where to start? Do you wonder if they really work?  Then don't miss these ideas for keeping your family healthy as you give them a shot.

Runny noses.  Coughing.   Sore throats.  Tummy aches.  Seriously, you guys, does this sound familiar?  Winter brings with it a plethora of ailments.  But how do we keep our families as healthy as possible when it seems everywhere we turn there are sick people?

I have the answer that has helped my family and I am so excited to share with you!   Since my family has incorporated Young Living essential oils as a part of our daily routine, our bodies have really learned to take care of themselves.  Our Young Living oils have become a part of our family.  Here are our top 3 Young Living MUST HAVES during these cold-infested, flu-bound winter months:

  1. Thieves - Thieves® essential oil is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma.  This is our number one GO TO!  We diffuse this in each of our kids’ bedrooms every night and add a couple of drops to their feet before bed as well.  This oil is known for its incredible anti-infectious, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties and has been so helpful in maintaining their well-being during this germy season!  It strengthens all of the major systems of the body, including respiratory and immune systems.

  2. RC – This has quickly become an oil that we just can’t live without.  RC is a blend of Spruce, Cyprus, and three types of Eucalyptus oils (E. globulus, E. radiata, and E. citriodora).  The smell – you guys – I. Can’t. Even.  It is SO soothing!  It helps us breathe so much better when we are trying to fight off the congestion that comes with the season.  Just add a few drops on your back, chest, and sinus area.  ALSO, don’t forget to use those diffusers!  Add a 1-2 drops of RC and 1-2 drops of Thieves in your diffuser to help with stuffy noses and let the Thieves do its work to fight off airborne bacteria.   

  3. Peppermint – What can I say about this oil?  More like – what can I NOT say!  Peppermint is a great headache reliever – just swipe a drop across your forehead or rub on the back of your neck, depending on where your headache is coming from.  You won’t believe the results!  We just hate to take ibuprofen and acetaminophen too often.  And Peppermint is a great way to avoid just that.  We even use it for fevers.  Just put 1-2 drops on the bottom of feet and down the spine to help reduce fevers.   And what about tummy aches?  1-2 drops on the belly with help relieve nausea in a flash!  Remember, Peppermint is a hot oil so if you’re using it on little ones, you’ll probably want to use a carrier oil, such as coconut oil so it doesn’t feel too hot for them. 


I could go on and on about how life-changing these Young Living oils have been for me and my family which is why I am excited that Ruth has invited me to share all about essential oils with you each month! I know it the whole world of oils can be a bit overwhelming so I hope to break it down and share specifically some of the benefits and uses of Young Living Oils.
