The Imagination Station: Light in the Lion's Den {A Review}

Comment

I have always enjoyed Adventures in Odyssey. I grew up listening to cassette tapes with my siblings before bed and in the car on road trips. Now my kids are enjoying the same quality stories, not on cassette tapes, but online. The method of streaming sure has changed, but the same great stories are still there!

Adventure in Odyssey Imagination Station Books are something I was unfamiliar with before writing this review. This is a nourishing paperback series from Tyndale Publishing for children ages 7 years old and up. This book is the 19th installment to the Imagination Station Series.

If you are familiar with Adventure in Odyssey, you know that the Imagination Station is an invention of Mr. Whittaker's to take kids back in time to experience a story first hand. Kids are actually part of the story as they enter the Imagination Station. The books in this series work just like that. In this story, the characters go to the gates of Babylon, meet King Darius and learn about the prophet, Daniel.

There are plentiful black and white pictures throughout the book.

Finding a trusted series of books for kids is hard! It is not for the faint of heart, but this book will be an excellent way for your kids to sink their teeth into an engaging story without compromising your family's values on content.

The story is easy-to-follow so young readers can comprehend what's going on. The story is creative and imaginative as you would expect from anything with Adventure in Odyssey's name on it. This story highlights resiliency, courage and the refusal to worship a false god.

There are a few spots in the book where you can find a two page spread depicting a key scene. This part of the book is pivotal as Beth refuses to go get a dove to sacrifice to a false god. The author does a good job of making the intensity palpable. The pressure is real and I think you can feel it, even within this story.

The chapters are short enough to create some traction and momentum for a young reader. Your young one will want to keep pushing along and reading what's next, just like the audio adventures we are all so familiar with.

Here is a list of other Imagination Station books. I was reading some of the amazon reviews for these books and a woman from a church library said these are checked out often. I am contemplating buying the whole series for my kids. These are valuable reading that contain no questionable material- quite the opposite! These books bolster children's faith and bring them an adventure they will want to be a part of!

In the back of the book is a fun activity for kids to decode the "secret word."

Reading this story of Daniel, Beth, Patrick and the Imagination Station will encourage your reader to not back down when the testing of their faith becomes the hardest. You can feel a sense of relief that your kids are digging into the best kind of story - one that strengthens their faith and adds to what you've already planted deep with them.
