Recently I was asked to take a look at a few classes from an amazing website called Craftsy. I am excited to share those classes with you here over the next year. It wasn't until a few months ago that I heard of Craftsy. I didn’t expect to find such an extraordinary resource. But it is really an invaluable wealth of information. Knife Skills Class - Craftsy and The Better Mom

Now before you think "Knife skills??! I don't need a knife skills class!" hear me out for a minute. I was a bit intrigued by the title of this class. Not because I am setting out to be a professional chef, but the truth is, I spend every.single.day. in the kitchen. (Ahem) I also use a knife every.single.day. in the kitchen. So **lightbulb** maybe it would be helpful to learn a few knife skills. Learning how to use a knife properly might actually help me in my everyday life!

I took Craftsy’s Complete Knife Skills Class and was so impressed! This class was so professionally done, easy to understand and fun! I learned SO much about knives and proper cutting techniques that will help me so much when I am cooking. The instructor was very clear and knowledgeable in regards to the topic. One of my favorite tips from the class was how to sharpen a knife quickly and anywhere (like if you are at a friend's house helping prepare a meal and they have no sharp knives to cut with...ahem I might have a friend like that). I also learned what types of knives every kitchen needs and the ONE knife that we should use 99% of the time!

My all time favorite thing that I learned from the knife skills class was how to cut an onion without crying. Did you know that was even possible?!?! Well it is. After he taught how to do it, I immediately cut an onion to test it out for myself. And wouldn't you know..it works! Here I have been cutting onions and sobbing for years. I had no idea that I could avoid that mess! Ha! A picture of my perfectly cut onion is below. ;)

One of the best things about taking the class online, besides the valuable information, was the ability to start the class and pause the class whenever I needed to. When the kids were in bed, or when I had a few minutes during the day to spare, I would sit down and watch a bit of the course in the comfort of my own home. It was so convenient! Craftsy is the perfect solution for us busy moms who want to learn, but don’t have time to leave the house and attend a class.
