Before the Turkey...

Before the Turkey...Before you put the turkey in--

Before you mash the potatoes...

Before the packing and traveling and chatting and hugging, Before the prepping and table-setting and greeting and loving, Before.

Before the goodness of the day has time to crowd out the best, Find a quiet place, a silent corner to-- Rest.

To pause-- And be still.

To give thanks this morning.

Not a mere general thanks, Of realized blessings. But a true prayer of praises, To our Lord and Creator.

"And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great gladness..." ~ 1 Chron. 29:22

For His goodness, His faithfulness, His wisdom and leading.

For His kindness, His love, His protection and reaching.

For His power, His hope-giving, And beyond all-- His Son's sinner-saving.

"Who then is willing to consecrate himself today to the Lord?" ~1 Chron. 29:5

This day and every day? Affirming the King.

And where there is praise, There will be thanks giving.

“Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name." ~ 1 Chron. 29:10-13
