It's been one of those days. You know, one of those days. The ones that almost make you wish you'd just stayed in bed. It was just one thing after another, after another and after another.
Your only hope, the only thing you really looked forward to was going to bed that night, and praying that tomorrow held a brand new (and very different!) batch of circumstances. It wasn't a bad day, just exhausting, the kind that drains every last bit of energy.
As moms, many of our days fit that bill! Even the good days can be exhausting, leading us to look fondly to laying our head down at night for some much-needed rest.
Can you see this wearied mother? She grins from ear to ear as her head hits the pillow. She closes her eyes and is quickly asleep. Sound asleep.
She feels a hand on her shoulder. Immediately awake, she sighs deeply as thoughts fill her head...
"One more thing? Really? Doesn't he know how tired I am!? Doesn't he know how long this day was for me?"
Many of us, especially those with young children, feel that loving our husbands after a long day is just one more thing on our to-do list. And many times we've approached it as something we can check off.
Ladies, let it not be so!
"A loving doe, a graceful deer may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be captivated by her love." Proverbs 5:19 NIV
That certainly doesn't sound like a tired, crabby wife! For our husbands to be captivated by our love, we simply... must be captivating. For our husbands to be satisfied, we simply... must satisfy!
Whether we are mothers of babies, young adults or any age in between, we need to remember that our husbands come first in our family. Let us not expend every bit of our energy during the day, and have nothing left to give our hard working men.
Last on our to-do list? Heaven forbid!
"Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. " Phillipians 2:3 KJV
