Gluten-Free Valentine’s Day Treats for Kids! & Better Mom Mondays Link-up!

I know it can be challenging at times, but eating “gluten-free” doesn’t mean having to pass up on everything yummy! Here are some excellent GF treats you can make for your little ones this Valentine’s Day…

Photo 8 Frosting

Create a Frosting Fondue bar by placing sliced fruits, marshmallows, and/or gluten free cake pops on sticks…place frosting in a bowl {I like heating up chocolate frosting!} and have your sprinkles ready. Your children will have so much fun….they won’t even miss the gluten.

Make these adorable “heart carrots“….have them alone as a snack, or put them in soup! Adorable!

Who could pass up on one of these rice crispy treats? Create a personal message easily using decorators gel. {Make sure to use Gluten-Free Rice Crispies!}

They are only young once…little things like these make lasting memories!

Have a Valentine’s day full of LOVE ….{and free of gluten!}

Blessings,

Janelle, Comfy in the Kitchen

 Ahhh…baking for Christmas is one of my favorite things to do with my children. We get up early, stay in our pajamas, make a mess out of the kitchen and have soooo much fun.

These times spent with our children are precious …something simple like baking with “mom” will be some of their fondest memories.

Here are some of my favorite “Christmas Cookie Classics” that are sure to bring smiles to your little ones and guests. They are tried, true, and easy!

Classic Gingerbread

Classic Sugar Cookie Cut-Outs

Cracker Toffee

All of these recipes can be frozen in ziplocs and taken out the day company arrives. I suggest freezing them in pairs of 6.

Enjoy these with a cup of Hot Cocoa and good company! Have a Very Merry Christmas everyone!

Fun and Easy Noodle Art Project for Kids

“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury, play is a necessity.” ~Kay Jamison, Clinical Psychiatrist

Being “Comfy in the Kitchen” isn’t always about cooking.

Here is a simple, inexpensive, and fun way to create artwork using items that you already have in your kitchen! My little girls had so much fun coloring noodles, squirting on the glue, getting messy and just having good ole fashioned fun doing this craft together.

This is a great project for the upcoming Holidays too! Ask your children to create a tree with autumn leaves or let them create what “Fall” looks like to them! The fun they will have is worth getting out the broom….don’t forget to play, my sweet friends!

All you’ll need: Food coloring, different shaped noodles, Rubbing Alcohol and plastic baggies.

Have your little one add food coloring and alcohol – shake until noodles are colored.

Do this with as many noodles and colors as you like.

Ready for craft time!

That looks beautiful sweetie!

Awww….who would have thought noodles could be so fun? {They sure do beat the price of legos! lol!}

I pray that you will take the time to play today….it will mean the world to your child.

*You can also make beautiful noodle necklaces with colored noodles!

Noodles of different shapes and sizes

Small Ziploc Baggies

Food Coloring

Rubbing Alcohol

Place 1-2 handfuls of noodles in a baggie. Add 5 drops of food coloring and 2 tsps of rubbing alcohol. Shake. You can let dry in bag or you can pour them out on a paper towel lined plate for quicker drying! Have fun!!

Gooey Cornflake Bars {Naturally Gluten-Free!}

These cereal bars are not just delicious…they’re also SO simple to make {4 ingredients!} and naturally gluten-free! My entire family loves when I make these! You’ll make them over and over again, I know I sure do….

*Being on a gluten-free diet has had some challenges, these cereal bars have helped satisfy my sweet tooth!

In a large microwaveable bowl, melt honey and peanut butter together for appx 1 1/2 mins.  {you may melt in a saucepan on your stovetop}.

Add vanilla and stir all together.

Add cornflakes and coat well.

Butter an 11×7 {or 8×8} pan. With wet hands {run your hands under water} press cornflake mixture into pan. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

These were “set” just in time for my son for an “after football practice” snack. Ohhhh, I love those moments when just he and I sit down and talk about his day…he’s growing up so quickly, but is still my little boy :)

Did I mention he’s also a ham for the camera? Hehe…..{he’s expressing his love for the bite of cereal bar he just took}. I’m so blessed to be his mom-I bet you can see how much laughter he gives me just in this photo.

I eat these on morning when I’m super rushed. Keep them refrigerated and they will stay in tact. MUCH better for you than a Nutri -grain Bar and naturally allergy friendly!  Enjoy!
