Trusting God’s Plan & Better Mom Monday’s Link-up!!

Mountains

Three years ago our family moved from near the Canadian border to the Bible Belt for my husband to work in a ministry job. We learned the joy of sweet tea, T-shirts in November, and “ya’ll,” but the hardest thing to find was a house to rent not only large enough for our family but also one we could afford. After moving 2,000 miles, we then moved three more times in the next two years within our city. I felt like Goldilocks: “This house is too old (and moldy), this house is too small, this house is too big (and drafty).”

It’s understandable why we couldn’t find a good fit. In addition to my husband and me, we had our toddler, our two college students, and my 83-year-old grandmother living with us. They are a lot of people with a lot of unique needs!

One day, when our third lease was coming up, I prayed. “Lord, I can’t find anything right for our family, but I trust You can. I trust You can guide us to the right house at the right price. You know our needs better than us, Lord.”

I didn’t think much about the prayer until later when a new friend stopped by for a book I was going to give her. She’d lived in our city a long time, so I nonchalantly asked if she knew anyone who had a house for rent.

“Actually, we have a house that will be available soon. I haven’t advertised it because it’s the house we built ourselves, and I’ve been praying that God would bring the right family who would take care of it.”

God not only provided a house for us—answering my prayers. God also had answered hers!

It reminds me of Philippians 4:9 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus” (NLT).

We are still in this house, and we hope to buy it. It’s the perfect fit for us. It’s also a reminder that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and hears our prayers!

What about you? What has God provided for you recently? Take a moment to thank God for something He supplied for you recently that perfectly met your needs!

Blessings,
