My First Stitch Fix!

My First StitchFix ~www.thebettermom.com

Okay all you busy mamas, have I got a surprise for you?!?!  There have been several times over the last 10 years that I have thought to myself, “I just wish someone would pick my clothes out for me!”. I love to shop, but with children it becomes more and more difficult to find the time. Also, when I am shopping for 4 others, I tend to push myself off until last (translate…never). So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across Stitch Fix.

What is Stitch Fix?

Stitch Fix is a service where you are assigned your own personal stylist who chooses clothing and jewelry for you.  When you sign up, you fill out a style profile so that your stylist has an idea of what you like to wear. After you select the first date you would like your fix, you will receive 5 items in the mail (in a cute box :) ). You are not obligated to purchase any of them, but you are charged a $20 styling fee. This $20 is refunded if you purchase any one item. I LOVE that with each piece of clothing they include a card that gives you ideas on how to style that particular piece. Once you try your items on, select what you would like to keep and then return the rest in a pre-paid envelope. Note: There is a waiting list, but once you are signed up for Stitch Fix they will send you “fixes” as often as you would like.

Chevron Shirt - My First StitchFix! ~www.thebettermom.comOverall I loved the variety of the items they sent me.  I kept one item from this fix, my lovely chevron shirt above! I paired it with a pair of skinny jeans and tall boots. It fit perfectly in to my wardrobe and I love it!

Sounds like a great service! What are the price ranges for the pieces that they send you?

    • Ruth Schwenk

Hi Amy! When you fill out your style profile, you select the price ranges you are willing to pay. I selected “as cheap as possible”. Everything in my fix was between $30 – $58. Also, if you choose to purchase everything in your fix, you get 25% off of the whole purchase which is a great deal. :)

This is awesome! Do they send you shoes, too? That is my most dreaded shopping task – shoes. And did they send you all the pieces on the suggestion card or do they assume that you have certain pieces? Thank you so much for posting this!

    • Ruth Schwenk

Hi Crystal! No they just send you suggestions of what you could pair that certain item with….and no they don’t send shoes (although I could definitely see them adding that in). Let me know how your first fix goes! :)

It’s not that I don’t know what I like, it’s finding the money to shop for me. Also, you do look cute in your Charlie Brown shirt–that’s what my son calls chevron stripes. What if you find nothing, do you still pay the $20?

    • Ruth Schwenk

Yes Jamie you still have to pay the $20 for the “styling fee”.
