I’m a big believer in schedules. I have said it time and time again. But, if you’ve never really had a schedule how do you attempt to make that work?

Here are some basic steps to fitting everything into your schedule – or at least most things.
1. Write down the most important priorities for your day. {God, Bible reading, Prayer, Kids, and Husband}
2. Write down what must get done each day. {Taking care of family, making meals, doing laundry, etc.}
3. Write down what things you’d like to do. {go shopping, do a fun craft, organize the pantry, etc.}
Think of the first {most important priorities} as the walnuts in a jar, in the picture above. They are big, and must get in there first. Then, the black beans are what must get done each day. Followed by the rice which will fill into all the nooks and crannies. If you start with the rice, then beans, and then walnuts, you won’t be able to do everything you want.
You have to do the most important things – schedule your time accordingly. But, realize that you must fit other things around it. Have fun and make a cute, basic schedule like this one that I made, here. You can get extensive and do minute-by-minute or hour-by-hour, or just general needs of what the day needs to look like by prioritizing from top to bottom. If you aren’t really sure what is an important thing to do, ask your husband if he has suggestions of what he’d like to have done. Oftentimes he might have things that make him feel important that are done while he’s away at work each day.
It’s also important to remember, the Ultimate Schedule Keeper can change your plans at any time. We can have plans and have a schedule, but we must learn to be flexible according to God’s will – something we all need to pray daily.
Blessings,
Becky (Organizing Made Fun)
