Life Verses For Moms & Better Mom Mondays Link-up!

The Bible is packed full of incredible and inspiring words.  God-breathed words that are purposed to guide us, teach us and encourage us.  Life verses are the scriptures that stand out or jump off the page, immediately comforting us and filling our hearts with peace.

These scriptures are powerful!

As we cling to them they bolster our faith!  We trust in them as if God is directly speaking to us, as if He is cheering us on, especially through tough times.  They provide hope to the despaired, energy to the weary, and joy to faint-hearted.

As people hold fast to their favorite life verses, they experience a special connection with God that is beautiful.  And the great thing is that there are many life verses to choose from; we can even search for specific verses that help in different areas of life such as marriage or work.

Today I wanted to share with you some marvelous life verses for moms.  I hope that these verses below empower you in your role as a mother, encourage you when fears regarding your children seize your heart, and equip you to fulfill your calling as a mom with confidence!  {These verses are from the NIV}

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” – Proverbs 31:26

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

“Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” – Proverbs 29:17

And one for the pregnant women like me, who may fear delivery:

“A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.” – John 16:21

Here are a few more profound verses you can look up: Psalms 139:13-16, Philippians 4:4-7, Hebrews 12:11, Psalms 127:3-5, Proverbs 23:25, Proverbs 31:28, Isaiah 40:29

If you already have a life verse for motherhood please share it in the comments and let us know how it empowers you!

    I have two…
The first verse I ever memorized was 2 Tim. 1:7…and because I still battle fear/worry…it’s a “life verse”.

    2 Timothy 1:7
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

But the verse I’ve chosen is Matt. 5:16…because it reminds me that whatever good He allows me to do…I want it to be for His glory.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

The verse I probably cling to most is 1 John 1:9 (especially when it comes to parenting) and 1 Peter 4:8…”love covers a multitude of sins.” Parenting is humbling and keeps me clinging to His grace…pleading with Him to transform our kiddos’ hearts despite all my mess-ups.

Today I wrote about the way God’s Word has the power to change my heart…in marriage specifically (but also in parenting). Loved this post Jennifer! Thank you!

Isaiah 50:10 came to me when we found out that our first baby (in the womb) could have special needs: “Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God. Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who equip yourselves with burning torches! Walk by the light of your fire, and by the torches that you have kindled! This you have from my hand, you shall lie down in torment.” Perhaps that last part sounds funny for a life verse, but for someone like myself who LOVES to try and ‘light torches’ (try to figure things out on my own, google for answers, etc.) I need this reminder so very often. I finally decided to trust in Jesus instead of being anxious even though i didn’t know what would happen to my baby girl. Turns out Jesus was being kind in teaching me that lesson right from the start: our daughter is now 6 and perfectly healthy, and we have 3 younger ones as well! The need to trust Him in darkness arises pretty much every day. :) He is a good Father!

I love the scripture from John — I used it when I wrote about the birth of our newest baby.
    It’s so very very true.
I had a ROUGH labor with Maeve, but as soon as I saw her face, I was ready to walk through fire for her.

Best of luck to you with your pregnancy!
