4th of July Fun for the Family!

I love the fourth of July! Probably a lot of it has to do with how much I love summer and the associations that come with it:  no school, hot weather, lots of water play, days filled with friends and fun and watermelon, homemade ice cream…and the 4th of July just fits right in to all of those summer expectations.

Here are some great ways to make your 4th of July celebration even more fun.

What fun ideas. I love the 4th of July too! I think every year that passes I grow a deeper appreciation for so many of our freedoms, especially our religious ones. Just as we want our kids to know the real meaning of Christmas, I want the 4th of July to be remembered for it’s true beginnings. Our family’s reading this week includes D’Aulaire’s version of George Washington’s life. Their books are colorful stories with rich language that really bring history to life. Celebrate America!

What a good idea, Susan! I didn’t think of incorporating reading materials, too. I like the D’Aulaire books.
